1981 was kinda a rough year for me. My parents were going through a divorce. At the time I was a member of the Star Wars fan club and they would send out newsletters every month. In one of the newsletters was a story about the next film from George Lucas called “Raiders of the Lost Ark” directed by Steven Spielberg. Huh? That’s a weird title I thought. In my nerdy little mind I thought of Tuskan Raiders + Noah’s ark. There was also a picture of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. Finally in August I was able to take the trip up to Albuquerque with my best friend at the time and watched the film. I had never had as much fun at the movies since that day. For 115 minutes I forgot all about the divorce and I guess that’s all you can ask for from the movies. Raiders is by far my favorite Indiana Jones flick. I still get goose bumps when I hear the Raiders march from John Williams. Acrylic on 16”x20” on canvas
